Giant Squid

The Giant Squid, scientifically known as Dosidicus gigas, also called the jumbo flying squid or Humboldt squid, is mainly found along the coasts of Peru, Chile, and Mexico in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. It has a giant body, reaching over 50 kilograms in weight. The meat is thick but has high water content and a mild flavor. This species is incredibly abundant and represents one of the world's most important cephalopod fisheries. It is often processed into squid rings, dried shreds, or used in surimi products, with exports to China, Europe, the United States, and Japan.
